My airplane drawings are generally characterized by the techniques I use to render the shiny metal surface, extreme contrast, and reflections. The metal acts as a mirror, reflecting the undersides of the clouds the aircraft is flying over. I call my technique “polished metal style,” where reflections are crisp and lines are straight, with an almost instantaneous transition between light and shadow. Then there is the “matte metal style,” where the sheen is softer, more opaque, or diffused.
